Books About 5-MeO-DMT

A close relative of DMT and bufotenin (5-HO-DMT), 5-MeO-DMT (5-methoxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine) is an entheogenic tryptamine found in nature in a wide variety of plant species, as well as in the famous Sonoran Desert toad.

First synthesised in 1936, this intriguing substance was later isolated from naturally-occurring material in 1959, as a component of the psychoactive Anadenanthera peregrina seeds (used in several traditional snuff decoctions). Apart from traditional Amazonian use, 5-MeO-DMT enjoys a small yet dedicated following among the global psychedelic underground, including (from approximately 1971 to the late 1980s) being used as a sacrament by the Church of the Tree of Life.
